Question by ms attitude: why is legal aid, such in hurry to get my credit card number?
ok so i call legal aid for a situation that i have , rite. the first thing they want is my credit card number. is it legit to give them my number.

    No, do not give them your credit card number. If you want legal aid, you make an appointment for consultation. Usually, depending on what kind of problem you have, this is free. They last from 30 minutes to an hour. Some may make you pay their hourly rate, but that would be once you arrived for your appointment, not on the phone. Call somewhere else and ask for a consultation.

    I do not know what state you reside in but I would not give them your credit card number until you have THOUROUGHLY investigated them. I would imagine like everything else, there are copycat organizations that look like legal aid but are not. Ask them for what specific reason they want your credit card. At first glance to me, this smells funny. It could very well be a referral service where this “legal aid” will find a pro-bono attorney for you. It just does not sit right with me as an attorney.
