Should I seek legal Aid?
Question by Veronica: Should I seek legal Aid?
On 9/24 I was shopping at Wal-mart. I was walking through produce and next thing I know i’m on the ground. I did fill out an incident report that night. There is a large amount of pain in my right hip, lower back, and ankle along with a large bruise on my knee. I am not out to seek a large compensation or anything along that route. However, I was sent home from my place of employment today and told to seek a doctors advice. I am a college student, live on my own and do not have insurance. I contacted Wal-mart and was pretty much just brushed off, I was told to send a copy of the bill to their insurance company and they would decided whether or not to pay it, but chances were slim. There was no wet floor sign and it was evident that whom ever cleaned up the container causing the spill had not taken further action to clean up the mess or caution shoppers. I do not feel that I should be held accountable for the negligence of this company. Please understand I am NOT out for a settlement, I am just not sure if this warrents me seeking legal aid inorder to get this bill taken care of. I wait tables and cannot afford to lose work over this, that is my only source of income. I do feel since I have been asked by my POE to seek a doctor that Wal-mart should cover my expenses. Any advice?

You have a right to submit your bills, and they have the right to deny you. It may not exactly help you in this incident, but for future reference: 1-Most phones have a camera now a days snap a few pics of the scene showing NO SIGNAGE 2-Ask for names of ALL employees you came into contact with for that day. 3-Ask to see the security camera for the area of the fall, get the security persons name, and request that the film be preserved for evidence 4- GO TO THE DR. IMMEDIATELY!! You should have gone directly to the emergency room, urgent care etc.
You have a chance at recovering your lost money, but it is a slim chance. Next time take a pro-active stance at it.
