Question by Nick P: If I file for bankruptcy in Virginia, can they take my truck that is paid for?
My truck is worth about 7500 on kelly blue book. Can they take it from me in virginia if i file bankruptcy?

Answer by Ellesar
Usually no. They will let you keep your vehicle because you will need it to get to work and they want you to work so that you can pay off your debts. The only time I’ve seen them take the vehicle is if its something very expensive that can be sold and allow you to get a cheap vehicle for work and use the rest of the proceeds to pay of debters.

I have small claim filed against me. Can I file for a bankruptcy before the court date?

Dec 1st, 2011

Question by Yuki: I have small claim filed against me. Can I file for a bankruptcy before the court date?
My court date is next week. Should I contact the creditor/ collector that I will be filing a bankruptcy and there is no need for this small claim? I can I earn some time to file a bankruptcy before my court date for this small claim?
Actually this small claim is not for me and the bankruptcy is not for me either. I’m a single and taking care of my ill parents. I tried paying their bills off but if is overwhelming with my bills and my responsibilities. My parents have no assets, no bank account, no property (sold last year) and no retirement plans. Is bankruptcy a smart choice here or should I contact the creditors and arrange a manageable payment? Thanks for your help in advance.

Do you really want to mess up your credit rating just for a small claim??? It doesn’t make much sense.

Question by Kottonmouth: Is this bankruptcy lawyer lying to my mom?
I received some toll violations that sum up 470 dollars and it is in both of our names because she owns my car. He told her that she can put those toll violations with her bankruptcy but I thought that was illegal because the violations came from the state of Illinois.

Is he right or wrong?

Best answer:

Answer by Irv S
If she owns the car, the violations are
on her without proof otherwise.
Whether bankruptcy can clear an obligation
to a State might be a question.

Question by My Business Plan: Why now is the government suggesting that GM and Chrysler file for bankruptcy?
Wasn’t this suggested by real economists and financial experts a few months ago? But no, our Congress would not listen, much the same way they aren’t listening now. For God’s sake you morons, get your heads out of Obama’s arse and listen to we the people. We aren’t as stupid as you think!
