What do you think? Answer below!
Find a unit that is deploying and ask to be transferred. That unit always has someone that needs to stay behind for some reason. Find a unit already over there and contact their commander and ask for a transfer. Contact your career branch manager; you can call them or email them directly. The chances of the military saying NO is very unlikely, as long as you are eligible. Believe me, they are handing out Article-15′s like MRE’s over there!
Well, I’d look for units that are prepping to deploy and just ask if they have any open vacancies in legal services. It might be tough though, because I don’t beleive that legal services is a very big community. It’s not the infantry where there are just thousands upon thousands of slots and you are almost guaranteed an avaliable open vacancy on request. If they don’t have one..see if there are any of their soldiers who have good reason to not go and request an exchange. They sometimes do that for soldiers who are having personal problems and would rather stay in the states, but that obviously isn’t guaranteed. If one of those becomes an option then put in a request for transfer and cross your fingers. That is about the only way of going about it that could even be reasonably construed as timely. The only other way is to wait until you have the option of PCSing and see if you can get into a unit that deploys regularly.
