I am searching for legal aid, My 6 year old daughter has accused my husband of sexually molesting her, he has now filed for divorce and put a restraining order on me and is trying to get custody of my 20 month old daughter. I have pressed charges with 2 different police departments, cps, i took her to the doctor i tried to get legal assistance and they keep telling me it takes up to 15 days to get word if i even qaulify and if they will help me i have 9 days till court. i went to go try and get my own lawyer they told me it would cost me 4 thousand dollars to retain them i am at a loss i am afraid i am gonna lose my baby, i dont know how to even respond to the papers that i was served my family has tried raising money for a lawyer but no one was able to come up with any…please help give me some advice i dont know what to do my husband has everything except one car.
We live in Fort Hood Texas. My husband has everything at this moment the house one of the cars all the money i have been a stay at home mom for 3 years until march of this year. My children and i are homless at the moment living with friend to friend, everything is all up side down my children are the ones that are suffering and nothing has been done to him!

Good Luck! Most lawyers want a good deposit to even look at a case!

In my area, Contra Costa County, CA Legal Aid has several ways to help you. They have a “hotline” on Wed. nights from 5:45 to 7:45 and you call, explain what you need and it is heard by a law clerk or student, they then hang up and go discuss your case with a real attorney and then they call you back on the same night with information about what you need to do.
They also have a drop in clinic on Thursdays and it’s a first come first served basis.
I’d call on Wed night and if you aren’t totally satisfied then you can go on Thursday to get additional help.
